The best AI workout planner app for most people in India in 2026 depends on one question: do you need a plan, or do you need help sticking to one? For a free plan built around your goal, equipment and training days, plus daily accountability, FitAstra's AI coach Astro is free to use. For gym lifters who want every session adjusted to muscle recovery, Fitbod is the most mature paid option. For diet first, HealthifyMe. For a human coach inside an app, FITTR. For classes instead of a plan, cult.fit. And if you already have a plan and only want to log it, Hevy.
Disclosure: we make FitAstra. We have tried to be fair: every price below comes from the app's own page or is clearly marked when it doesn't, and each app gets the job it is genuinely best at. Prices were checked on 25 October 2026.

What makes an AI workout planner good
Before the apps, four things to check. They matter more than the brand name:
- Does it use your real limits? Your equipment, the days you can train, your level and any injuries. A plan with a pull-up bar you don't own is useless.
- Who decides the numbers? Sets, reps and rest should come from training rules or your own logged data. A chatbot can write a plan that sounds right and is not.
- What happens when you miss a day? Everyone misses days. A good planner moves or adjusts the session. A bad one just shows you a broken streak.
- Does it help you keep going? Most people don't quit because the plan was wrong. They quit in week three. Reminders, streaks, workout partners or a coach are what get you through that.
1. FitAstra (Astro): best free AI planner for staying consistent
Astro is FitAstra's AI coach. You tell him your goal (lose weight, gain weight, get stronger, build stamina or stay consistent), your equipment, the days you can train and any injuries, and he builds a weekly plan. The important detail: fixed training rules choose every exercise, set, rep and rest time, and the AI model only writes the plan name and Astro's words. Moves that need kit you don't have, or that your injuries rule out, are removed before anything is picked.
Where FitAstra is different is accountability. Astro's mood follows your real training: proud when you lift more or come back after a break, worried in the evening when your streak is at risk, sleepy after two days off. You get a daily insight, a recap after each workout, streak reminders, and a one-tap choice to move or drop a missed session. Outside Astro, the app has free local workout partners and fitness events, and verified personal trainers from ₹299 a session when you want a human.
- Price: the plan, daily insight, recaps and reminders are free. Chat with Astro and rebuilding your week around why you missed a session will be the paid FitAstra Pro pass, which is not on sale yet.
- Good: works for home, dumbbell-only and gym setups; realistic weight-loss limits (0.5–1 kg a week); you can try a real starter plan on the web with no signup.
- Not great for: advanced lifters who want set-by-set auto-progression from a long training history. Fitbod is more mature there.
As of 21 October 2026, Astro had built 301 plans for 246 people. You can see one of his real plans, exercise by exercise, on the free workout plan page.
2. Fitbod: best for regular gym lifters
Fitbod builds each workout from your logged sets, your equipment and how recovered each muscle group is. In its own words, it "uses your training history and recovery to recommend the right muscles for each session". If you train in a gym four days a week and log every set, it gets better the longer you use it.
- Price: paid after a 7-day free trial. 2026 reviews put the US price at $15.99 a month or $95.99 a year (source); Fitbod's site doesn't list a price, so check your app store for India.
- Good: strong progression for gym training; adjusts to the muscles you trained recently.
- Not great for: beginners who aren't logging yet, and people who need someone to keep them showing up. There is no permanent free plan.
3. HealthifyMe: best if diet is your main problem
HealthifyMe is India's best-known calorie tracker, with a large Indian food database. Its AI, Ria, is described on its store as a "personal AI nutritionist": it reviews your meals and answers food questions. Workout plans are the job of a human fitness coach on its coach plans, not of the AI.
- Price: Healthify+ is listed at ₹2,500 for 12 months on HealthifyMe's store. Plans with human coaches cost more.
- Good: Indian meals, calorie tracking, nutrition coaching.
- Not great for: people who mainly want an AI-built training plan.
4. FITTR: best if you want a human coach, not AI
FITTR is a coaching platform: you enrol, and a certified coach builds your diet chart and workout plan and checks in with you. The app adds tracking and a large community. It isn't an AI planner, but it is a common alternative to one.
- Price: FITTR says most clients spend ₹8,000–₹20,000 for 3 months of coaching, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Good: a real person, regular check-ins, diet and training together.
- Not great for: tight budgets, or anyone who just wants a plan today.
If a coach is what you want, compare prices first. Our personal trainer cost guide has real 2026 numbers across gyms, chains and online coaches.
5. cult.fit (cultpass HOME): best for guided classes at home
cultpass HOME gives unlimited live and on-demand sessions: workouts, dance, yoga and meditation. You choose a class, follow the instructor, and get energy scores and progress reports. It is a class library more than a personal plan.
- Price: cult.fit lists ₹999 for 1 month, ₹1,859 for 12 months and ₹2,599 for 24 months, with a 7-day free trial.
- Good: variety, instructor energy, very cheap per month on long passes.
- Not great for: structured progress on a goal, or gym training.
6. Hevy: best for logging a plan you already have
Hevy is a workout tracker, not a planner. You build or copy a routine, log your sets, and see your progress and personal records. Many lifters use it with a programme from a coach or a book.
- Price: free up to 4 routines; Pro is $2.99 a month, $23.99 a year or $74.99 lifetime on Hevy's pricing page (US prices).
- Good: fast, clean logging; social feed.
- Not great for: anyone who doesn't know what to train yet.
7. ChatGPT or Gemini: fine for a one-off plan
Asking a chatbot for "a 3-day home workout plan" works, and it's free. The limits are real, though: nothing tracks what you did, nothing changes when you miss a day, and nothing checks the numbers against training rules. If you go this way, copy the plan into a tracker and review it every few weeks.
Which one should you pick?
- Beginner, or training at home with little equipment: FitAstra. A free plan that matches your kit and days.
- You keep starting and stopping: FitAstra, for the streaks, reminders and workout partners. Consistency is the real problem for most people, not the plan.
- Gym 4+ days a week and you log every set: Fitbod.
- Weight loss where food is the issue: HealthifyMe, with any of the training options above.
- You want a person, not software: FITTR, or a verified coach on FitAstra from ₹299 a session.
- You like classes: cult.fit.
- You already have a programme: Hevy.
The best AI workout planner is the one you are still opening in week six. Pick the app that fixes the reason you stopped last time.
